The Blue Room
Summer on the North Shore is my favorite time of year. The winter’s waves have gone and the waters are calm. There are so many lava tubes and caves to swim through it’s hard to keep track of them all.
This particular cave is one of the more challenging to shoot in, even in the summer. On seemingly the flattest, calmest of days there will still be some swell. I prefer to swim without fins once we are in the grotto, adding to the challenge and the fun.
We time our visits carefully, hoping to see the sun creating magic for us. There are gorgeous beams of sunlight that will sneak through the top of the cave to illuminate the lava rocks and salt water pools below. I feel like I’m a mermaid in Never Never Land.
